Editor-in-Chief, Prof. Didier Samuel proudly said,

"We are delighted with these results that recognise the high-quality contribution that the Journal of Hepatology makes every month to the liver and scientific communities at large. They are testament to the support that EASL - the 'Home of Hepatology' - provides."

This is the highest Impact factor that the Journal has ever achieved and marks EASL's commitment to providing the liver community with the most up-to-date work and data of the highest quality.

"We have succeeded in positioning the journal as a leader in the field of hepatology, and I wish to thank the outstanding work done by all the authors, Editorial team, and Editorial office in Geneva," expressed EASL Secretary General, Markus Peck.

Thomson Reuter's announcement marks the sustained efforts of the editorial office, pioneered by Editor-in-Chief Professor Didier Samuel and EASL's Editorial Office, who have overseen major improvements to the quality of the journal. Their efforts for outstanding relevance in the field have accordingly been recognised by Thomson Reuters.

According to EASL policy, an entirely new Editorial Team is assembled every five years. An Editorial Office was established in Geneva in 2009 and took over management of manuscripts on September 15, 2009.

Throughout 2010, the Journal of Hepatology saw many changes; new sections such as International Hepatology presenting short commentaries on recent papers of interest from other journals in the field of hepatology appeared, every issue now contains a Focus page dedicated to highlighting the most salient articles within each issue, and in addition to content, the Journal of Hepatology also has a new design, with improved graphics and images.

The Journal is published on a monthly basis by Elsevier for EASL and is also available online via the EASL Members' zone.
