EASL Secretary General joins 120 medical society leaders and researchers to voice concern about EU data protection law on medical research

By EASL EU Public Affairs November 19,2015

EASL Secretary General, Laurent Castera joined over 100 leading researchers as a co-signatory of a letter published in The Times on 18 November calling for changes to the proposed EU regulation on data protection.

Researchers fear that as currently drafted, the measure could prevent research being carried out in EU countries. The EASL EU Research Officer, Dr Laura Capitaine, also attended an event in the European Parliament on 19 November in support of better and more harmonised EU provisions around research and privacy.
