Commission President designate and European Parliament Socialist group are unhappy with the number of women nominated by Member States

EASL is a member of the European Chronic Disease Alliance (ECDA), which has put together a list of questions to Commissioners designate. These have been sent to all of the Committees in the European Parliament who cover the relevant issues of interest to the ECDA and its members. ECDA is asking MEPs in these committees to ask these questions on behalf of citizens when the commissioners designate appear before them at their confirmation hearings.

Originally, the hearings were due to be held in September but since the Commission President designate and the Socialist group in the EP have both said that they are unhappy with the number of women nominated by the Member States these hearings may now be delayed. However, could you put the link on the website and ask Members to contact their MEPs asking them to support and ask these questions. Members can find their MEPs here:http://www.europarl.europa.eu/meps/en/map.html
