
On 6 May, the European Parliament adopted the report on the Commission Communication on Action against Cancer: European Partnership, drafted by MEP Alojz Peterle (EPP, SI) and which clearly mentions the need to tackle liver disease and to ensure the promotion of research on cancer prevention, treatment techniques, and on rare cancers. Mr Peterle stated that, the new Parliamentarian informal group, Members Against Cancer (MAC), will provide a greater emphasis on cancer prevention.
