
On September 28, at the ‘ICT 2010-Digitally Driven’ event in Brussels, organised by the European Commission, the European Commissioner for the Digital Agenda, Neelie Kroes, announced the new call for proposals on Information and Communications Technology, entitled ‘ICT Call 7’, which will, amongst others, include research in the field of health and well-being in an ageing society. The calls are expected to focus on disease prediction, early diagnosis, prevention, minimal invasive treatment, overall disease management, support to healthy lifestyles, prolonging independent living, extending active working life, and assistive technologies for people with disabilities.
