On Wednesday, 29th May, EASL and UEG joined forces to mark World Health Digestive Day with an event in Brussels. World Digestive Health Day 2013 has for theme "LIVER CANCER: Act Today. Save Your Life Tomorrow. Awareness. Prevention. Detection. Treatment." Following the well-attended event EASL and UEG issued a joint press statement emphasising the importance of prioritising liver disease research.
A review of 260 epidemiological studies published in the last 5 years to survey the current state of evidence on the burden of liver disease in Europe and its causes.

EASL Goes Green

Now you can with EASL’s new green membership. Starting from January 2013, EASL members will have access to an online version of the Journal of Hepatology and EASL membership will no longer include the printed version of the journal.

The European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL) is a renowned society of clinicians and scientists striving to promote liver research and improve the treatment of liver diseases worldwide.

Your membership is essential to develop new initiatives and to accomplish EASL aims.

Important information

  1. Annual EASL membership is entered per calendar year (from January 1st to December 31st).
  2. It is possible to become and EASL member and renew your EASL membership all year long.
  3. Renewal and applications process for the following year starts every year in October.
  4. Members paying to receive the hard copies of the Journal of Hepatology will receive their issues 2 months after their renewal or after having received their membership number.
  5. Full details regarding the reduced registration fees are available on meeting publications and event calendar websites.
  6. Those who apply for the EASL membership after December 31st will not be entitled to the “EASL members” reduced registration fees for the International Liver Congress™.

Regular: for individuals residing in Europe and Israel.

Corresponding: for individuals from non-European countries.

Trainee: For trainees up to 35 years old who wish to become active members. Proof of age and status (copy of ID and letter from head of department) are required for this category.

Emeritus: Open to members who have attained the age of 65 and have been EASL members for at least ten years.

 

 


Application and review process

  • EASL Membership is open to anyone with an interest in hepatology
  • Applicants can apply online or onsite at EASL conferences
  • Applications are reviewed and approved by the EASL Governing Board on a regular basis
  • Applicants will be notified within 2 months after reception of their application
  • Once the membership application is complete, you will have instant access to the EASL Members' Zone however, you will only become an active EASL member and receive your membership number once your membership application has been approved by the EASL Governing Board.

Application should include:

  1. A recommendation letter from an active EASL member*
  2. A proof of age and status (copy of ID and letter from head of department) for trainee members
  3. A payment using credit card (via Paypal or a credit card payment form), bank wire transfer or cheque
  4. No recommendation letter is required for onsite applications
