Learning Objectives
- Understanding of appropriate referral patterns for transplantation in both acute liver failure and cirrhosis
- Develop an understanding of the manner in which various co-morbidities impact on waiting list and post transplant outcomes
- The role of support systems and treatment of the complications seen in acute liver failure
- Management of patients in the pre-transplant setting (acute, chronic liver failure etc..)
- Management of early post transplant complications
- Immunosuppression – what, for whom, and at what dose
- Management of HBV and HCV pre and post transplantation
- Post transplantation – non hepatic organ dysfunction – optimal monitoring and management.
