Daniele Prati
Daniele Prati, MD, is the Director of the Department of Transfusion Medicine and Hematology at the Ospedale Alessandro Manzoni, Lecco, Italy.
In addition, he is currently contract professor at the Postgraduate School of Gastroenterology, University of Milan and visiting professor at the Centre of Transfusion Medicine, Cellular Therapy and Cryobiology, IRCCS Foundation Ca' Granda Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico, Milan, Italy.
Dr. Prati received his medical degree from the University of Milan, in 1991. In 1992 he obtained a research fellowship in the Transfusion Research Laboratory at the University of California, San Francisco, USA, where he conducted studies on the complications of blood transfusion. From 1993 to 2003 he was the responsible for the Laboratory of Virology and the Viral Hepatitis Out-Patient Clinic at the Blood Transfusion and Transplantation Immunology Center - Ospedale Maggiore, Milano, Italy.
His main scientific interests focus on the epidemiology, diagnosis and treatment of viral hepatitis and chronic liver disease. In the last years, he started experimental projects on hepatic stem cells and progenitors. He has published numerous scientific papers on these topics, and served on several related committees and advisory boards.
In April 2010, Dr Prati was not only nominated Scientific Committee member of the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL) at the Business Meeting in Vienna, but also became member of the Board of Directors of the Italian Foundation for Research in Hepatology (FIRE). From February 2007 to February 2010 he served as Secretary General of the Scientific Board of the Italian Association for the Study of the Liver (AISF).
